Video Essays
Since 2007 I have been producing
short videos that give critical perspectives at film and media. It’s a
way for me to satisfy my film criticism and filmmaking impulses at once.
Most are related to films covered in Shooting Down Pictures. I have also
made video pieces for the Film in Focus Rewatch
Series, The Moving Image Source, The Auteurs Notebook and Reverse Shot.

Since 2008 I have served as Vice
President of Programming and Education for dGenerate Films, the only
speciality distributor of Chinese independent film in North America.
