Love THE SCARLET EMPRESS (and just about anything by Sternberg), PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES (unlike just about any Wilder), DAMES DU BOIS DE BOULOGNE (though I kind of wonder if the Cahiers crowd would have dismissed him as "cinema du papa" if he had continued making films in this vein).

It's possible that I might arrange a screening of LIMITE in the spring in NYC to celebrate the finish of this blog project...

Seems like most films were shifted downwards in the update. What a shame about QUADROPHENIA - I think that movie is fantastic, and wouldn't have checked it out if it hadn't been on the TSP1000. Strangely it disappeared the following year, then it came back last year, so for some reason it shows up on TSP every other year.

HELLZAPOPPIN is a hoot. The Lindy Hop scene had me clicking on YouTube clips for days.

Too bad Tsai Ming Liang is no longer represented at all. My favorites of his are THE RIVER and THE WAYWARD CLOUD.

TWO ENGLISH GIRLS is one of my very favorite Truffaut films - I really enjoyed the video essay I did with C. Mason Wells.

I also watched "Limite" last year, although based on a recommendation unrelated to TSP, and enjoyed it quite a bit myself. I'm glad to see it's still hanging in there, which means it must have a slightly larger following than I thought when I initially watched it.

I can't pretend there aren't at least a few great movies I watched after seeing them on the top 1000 list. Just two days ago I decided to look into Ken Russell's "The Devils" after seeing it there, and I was completely blown away. Also not surprised that Alex Cox voted for it, because it only took fifteen minutes of viewing to notice that he lifted a very huge portion of Russell's movie for his own absurdist, satirical period piece "Walker."
