The barn dance in the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is awesome. Barn dance is one of the best dances in the world. This movie was so inspiring that Indian make a copy of this movie same as it is. The movie name was Satte Pe Satta

Yeah the barn dance easily makes a top five. What else would be up there? Maybe "Dancing in the Dark" from FUNNY FACE, the title number from SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, "Girl Hunt" from THE BANDWAGON...

Hope you're enjoying your summer before grad school. I'm wondering myself if I should follow your lead.

I knew our paths would cross eventually... just watched this for the first time a few weeks ago. Much too folksy for my tastes, but yeah, I can't think of another instance where a film I find so ideologically abhorrent still managed to ultimately end up in my good graces (even with that ending!). Really, I consider that in itself as the quite the accomplishment.

But really, it almost all hinges on that barn-raising scene. It's the only thing I've come across in a good while that legitimately gives "The Trolley Song" a run for its money as the most rapturous sequence even sustained in a classic Hollywood musical (maybe in all of classic Hollywood cinema).

-jesse
