Thanks Nick - to be honest, working on the video helped me gain some appreciation of the film as well. I'm still not entirely convinced by it, but the film engendered the idea of a cinema of flirtation that I find fascinating. On the whole I find LIMITS OF CONTROL is a more accomplished film, at least cinematically.

Kevin and Jessica,

This was a truly fantastic video essay. It helped me to begin to re-evaluate a film that I disliked upon first viewing. Its flirtatious teases of dramatic resolution bothered my desire for classical narrative closure. Now I realize that I was too much of a Don Juan-ish movie viewer. I wanted my tidy affair of a film to be quick and tidy and over. But such would fantasy rather than the confrontation with the lack of resolution that we find in reality so often. Thanks for the help.

-Nick
