Boston movers- your facile comment indicates that for you there are no differences between any video stores, "just move to another video store", you say. Thats the same as saying that if your favorite Italian restaurant has closed, well, that's OK, just go home and heat up a can of spaghetti-o's. How about your 52 inch HDTV breaks, but that's OK, just watch it on that 5 inch black and white TV that you used to take to summer camp. If you do not know anything about a subject, as you evidently do not, the smart person keeps his or her mouth closed as to not let themselves look like an idiot. But that's OK, you don't mind looking like an idiot!

That's too sad to know that your favorite video store was closed. Just move to another video store.

What a friggin' idiot this writer is!!! To cry crocodile tears for the loss of this beloved cultural institution, while admitting that he would only ever rent films there as a last resort? Spare us your false sorrow, sir or madam!!! Obviously, if you had really cared about the preservation of this institution, YOU WOULD HAVE SPENT MONEY THERE, IDIOT !!! As the owner of Baltimore's equivilent of Kims, Video Americain, I have myself been preparing for the bathetic whale of customers whose next visit to our stores will only be after we close, and then to offer their "condolences". Support such institutions while they are open, they are often hanging on by a thread, and could use the cash. Just spare us your crocodile tears when we they disappear, it makes you look just sooooooooooooo lame. .

New York is losing its cultural dominance, one piece at a time. Perhaps artists will soon begin to realize that in fact, the city is a shitty place to live and will begin to move in packs towards strange, interesting places like, Sicily. (Italy or Alaska)

Dear alsolikelife & others: this collection was strictly offered as a free donation to the city of Salemi, Sisily by the name of Kim's Video supporters. Sadly, there was not a single institution showing sincere interest to keep Kim's collection in this town over the last four months while the "Public Offer" campaign was taking place - needless to say, it was a great disappointment . This might have not been the best decision; nonetheless, the offer from Salemi preserves the pride and respect of Kim's Video, among all other offers including local institutions. I am thrilled to see their "neverending" programs and presentations of Kim's Video collection. Hope you understand and thanks for your support.
best regards.

- Kim's Video -

I suspect that NYPL, like many public libraries, has a collection policy that prohibits them from taking single copies of items. The cost of cataloguing added to the liklihood that many of the items will be stolen within the year makes it an unwise investment. Also, they probably have a "no-VHS" policy.
