    Far out. I wish I’d watched this BEFORE seeing NOT RECONCILED, but it definitely deepens my appreciation (and comprehension!) of the film. Now, if we could only get Richard to replace Anthony Lane and David Denby full time, then we’d be in business…

    This is a great essay. I wish that this film would be more dvdable so that more people would have the chance to experience Straub/Huillet's magic cinema.
    Do you know by any chance where can we buy/download the version with the english subs? I have a French collection of their films that does not have english subs and makes it difficult for me to show it to other friends or to my students.
