As Son, Bae distills her own onscreen persona into an essence, her identity a matter of pure physicality.

Great post. You described Bae really well.<br>Another thing about Korean movies is that they were able to find beautiful scenery and places to shot the film, which makes their movies special.

Doo na Bae is many things. Model, photographer, actor in TV and film. She has more talent in her little finger than... well you get the picture. I believe she is the best comedic actor of the modern age. She can play even the most unbelievable and bizarre roles in such a way that they seem perfectly normal and real. Her acting range is such that she can face the most tragic event and juxtapose it with a slapstick pratfall pulling the audiences emotion up and down like a yo yo on a string and you believe it all. She has enormous control. Her body language, her eyes, her facial expression can convey whatever she choses. She is Lucille Ball with more style and depth than Ms. Ball was ever able to achieve. She is far beyond just a pretty face. It is the worlds loss if she isn't cast in an international film that allows her to show the scope of her talent. With a well written role and a director with the good sense to let her loose on the screen, the world will surely recognize the genius that is Doo Na Bae.

In a sense, our title was a bit of a misnomer. Koreans DO at least like Bae a lot -- on television. She has been busy with television projects since "Host" -- and both series were written around Bae. She is not just a star -- but the centerpiece of both "Someday" (2006) and "How to Meet a Perfect Neighbor" (2007). The shows are most enjoyable as showcases for fine performances (and not just Bae's -- which are, as one might expect, superb).

Neither series is as good overall (artistically) as "Beating Hearts" (2005) -- which was not a conventional series, but a set of 6 100-minute movies about the same family (each film made by a different writing-directing team). In this, Bae plays Ko Ah-seong's aunt (just as in Host) -- and in one segment Bae plays her character's considerably older sister while Ko plays Bae's character. The two actresses make a good team -- and one hopes they will work together more in the future.

Not sure yet what Bae is doing for 2008 -- but her fabled 2003 series (Country Princess) is due for a subbed DVD release soon. Even at this earlier point in her career, Bae played the focal role in the series (as a Cinderella-esque character). Fans of "Take Care of My Cat" might want to take note of the fact that the Lee twins (Eung-joo and Eung-sil) from that film turn up in this series as well.
