I agree about Kubrick, especially with A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. Hollywood producers covet LAWRENCE OF ARABIA — they routinely list it as one of their favorite films, and they probably figure that only a Hollywood studio could have the muscle to make a film like that. Muscle perhaps, but nerve, no!

I’m surprised at the Kubrick films making the AFI list, call it patriotic fervour but i’ve always thought of Kubrick’s [and most of Lean's films] as British/UK productions.
